I am a born pessimist which has its good sides and its not so good sides. As I see it, the entire world is being turned into one giant battle field with wars of all kinds - religious, racial, etc. It is a 'free for all' and, as usual, so many exploiting the situations. What a rot.
There is a very close kinship between pessimism and realism. There is good reason for pessimism when a declining empire with no scruples is involved. Over the next year we are going to see just what lengths it is willing to go to avoid its inevitable collapse.
One positive sign is that Blinken has said the US will not contest Russia's claim to Crimea. The US is faced with backing away from a horrible mess of its own making without losing face internationally--much of which it has already lost.
Its present intransigence is pushing more and more countries toward Russia/China multipolarism.
As it is the US is ostracizing itself from the world community.

We should know by know that any 'word' given by Washington is as good as bull manure.
