Western elites dance in the ruins of their invincible present
Western elites see themselves as living an invincible present where they will never be held accountable for their wars and sociopathy.
The World Is Too Much With Us,
By William Wordsworth, published 1807
The world is too much with us; late and soon,
Getting and spending, we lay waste our powers;—
Little we see in Nature that is ours;
We have given our hearts away, a sordid boon!
This Sea that bares her bosom to the moon;
The winds that will be howling at all hours,
And are up-gathered now like sleeping flowers;
For this, for everything, we are out of tune;
It moves us not. Great God! I’d rather be
A Pagan suckled in a creed outworn;
So might I, standing on this pleasant lea,
Have glimpses that would make me less forlorn;
Have sight of Proteus rising from the sea;
Or hear old Triton blow his wreathèd horn.

Wordsworth wrote this poem as a lament that the world was fast changing from an pastoral existence where people were close to nature and how life was changing as the industrial revolution was taking hold.
Over two hundred years later we are late comers to the industrial revolution, still marching on as we are now addressing the issues of AI and robotics.
Wordsworth would be truly astounded!
It appears our elites have such a well entrenched faith in industry and technology, their reckless capitalism and perpetual wars, they see themselves as invincible. This allows them to do what they when they want with no regard for consequences, social, environmental or any other.
They see themselves as immune to the cycles and dictates of history at the same refusing to take responsibility for the human and environmental costs of their moral depravity.
They are self-ordained deities peddling their shabby wares from door to door.
They are so stupefied by power and money they don’t see beyond their office doors.
Their vision for the future doesn’t go beyond the next board meeting.
They don’t see the blood of the mother’s son.
They don’t walk with the refugees.
Their acquisitive eye requires that which belongs to others is theirs to have, and off to war they go.
They declare dominion over the present and future; no challengers allowed. They are accountable to no one. Their assumption of invincibility is a danger to every one, themselves included, as they build their gilded bunkers.
Their business is to turn profits on piled body bags, dancing among the ruins of their invincible present.
Good ole’ Joe and his pimping NATO puppets know no shame, bribed and broken.
The calamity of the Western elites knows no limits.
Wordsworth would be truly astounded!

In case you missed it:
And one day - and hopefully very soon, these 'elites' will have a very rude awakening.
