I would say it is less a matter of 'waking up' and more a matter of thinking for oneself to realize what is going on and not being afraid of expressing an opinion. Overall, we are lulled by 'social' media or any gadget that comes with a screen.

Thinking for one self only comes after the wake up call. In a country like Canada where we are so thoroughly colonized that waking moment may never come. One thing that might trigger a wake up is that if start seeing the US for what it is. We think of it as our giant security blanket ; but refuse to see the cavernous holes in it or the negative influences that slip across our borders.

It took many decades to slip into the replete colonization we suffer now and it will many more decades to recover if ever.

Over the last fifty years I have seen what colonization has done to my own country; but also that of too many more.. Colonization is the byproduct of imperialism and both must have a stake driven through their heart.

As it is the Collective West is headed for a boon dock existence in a new Dark Age of its own creation while the other 85% of the world moves to greater and better things. The CW will get to spent the rest of the century regretting its psychotic lust for self-destructive wars.

But then regret is thinking for oneself and self-reflection.....
