For far too long, much too long, has the general West looked the other way, making it easy and possible for the US to literally get away with murder. Now times are changing and now we are starting to pay the price for this 'laissez-faire' attitude. Getting back on our own feet won't be an easy feat. (no pun intended).
Canada's daily papers (like ALL papers in The West) have staff stools from the neo-liberal think tanks controlling their entire output. And they will NOT divulge the "embedded" plants from the likes of the Fraser Institute. In all fairness, they should. Some "journalists" were musing about why so many union workers switched to PP. Because these same "journalists" refused to divulge the hidden anti-union agenda of PP and his ties to the same think tanks as tRump. Not that their editors would allow it!
Carney is somebody to watch. I was surprised he was willing to become PM after the mess his predecessor has left behind. He may have a plan for a better Canada and could be a game changer?
He seems to be cut from the neoliberal cloth, and I think having a minority government and with the NDP soon to elect a new leader he could be a game changer. I think with what's going on south of the border, more people will be paying attention to what Carney does.
All parties and politicians, north and south of the 49th are neoliberal. It is their survival mode and best kept secret. We have to force them out of the closet and into the open where it becomes part of the political dialogue. Unfortunately the mainstream media (MSM) is their major accomplice. Never has their been a time when the media has been so powerful and willing to so blatantly whore itself to the status quo.
Populations in turn have to wake up to the reality of the damage done after 40 years of neoliberalism. It is deeply rooted in our societies and the biggest impediment to progressive social change.

At least Carney got a minority government. That might give us some leverage.
