As much as I love Canada...but it needs to grow up. This said, I believe there are a number of Canadians who would not mind at all if Canada became a US territory (more than it already is). Overall, Canadians are much more civilized and that is why I love them - warts and all.

The happiest 15 years of my life were spent in Canada but...I always found that Canadians are much too polite to even think of putting 'down their foot' when it comes to matters concerning all. Canada should have weaned away from the Yankee bosom eons ago instead of always genuflecting.

Vera you should read John Ralston Saul's book," A Fair Country, some truths about Canada". It is chock full of brilliant insights concerning Canada and a book every Canadian should read. We apologize for our very existence, do not know our own history and our leadership is mocked in our national media and the international media. Trudeau was booed out Germany's Parliament,, which is also not longer a sovereign nation.

Canada is a pathetic country suffering the full brunt of colonization and paying the price which we just can't calculate, also true of 29 other NATO supplicants.

This is why I call myself an "internationalist" -- to distance myself from a country I was once proud to be part of. My citizenship is now a lament.

The book is available at Amazon.ca

There is little hope for Canada in the short run. As the empire declines it is consolidating its control on Canada just as it is locking down Western Europe and cannibalizing NATO member states.

Canada is much in the same situation as Germany where sovereignty is long gone and merely an echo chamber of the empire. Canadians for the most part appear content to be de facto Americans-especially younger generations who are completely acculturated to America's temper.

We Canadians have had an affluent lily pad existence coat tailing on the empire for 75 years and oblivious to how vulnerable we are. We are very much the parochial colony in total denialism.

It is very interesting to hear Mexico is applying for membership in BRICS !
