When Democracy died a Sudden Death

As the unipolar zombies of the West wallow in their dirty laundry disgracing themselves before the world, the multipolarists wear clean clothes, building better futures and putting people first.

Democracy you say! We‘re not sure if it was fad or fashion, or maybe just lip service, smeared and bloody.

These are hard times for Democracy and Peace as they have been sent to the mortuary, each on their individual cold hard slabs, subject to post mortum. Both had a tumultuous death and may they rest in peace. They can be reincarnated. We have that power — presently directed in all the wrong places. It may not take place though as there is so much chaos in the world, so many self-indulgent past times, too many political zombies filling their pockets, and war profiteers counting their bloodied cash.

Chaos has been weaponized as when there are those who insist on doing evil works. With no hope of winning they resort to causing perpetual chaos,…like children having serial temper tantrums because they can’t have their way. Among their tantrums are bombing the children of Gaza out of existence.

We are, some say, in potentially terminal times when we have made a few too many thousands of bombs and missiles on very short fuses, and psychopathic moral derelicts haunt the dark halls of power. Too many tails are wagging too many half-dead dogs.

There is a close kinship between the two. Democracy is a good way to keep the Peace as well as governing ourselves. The whole point of democracy is to reconcile our differences and conflicts without blowing each others brains out. It seems we prefer the latter even though the clock is ticking. We indulge in the hot flush of wars and genocide when so many other critical issues beg for our attention.

Diplomacy rhymes with Democracy. But yet there are those craven souls who do not know such lingo. Souls so cadaverous and illiterate the mortician is putting on his apron and honing his scalpel to find out when the lobotomy took place.

Oh, Yes democracy died a sudden death some forty years ago when the Iron Lady ordained there was no such thing as societies. The market place has dominion over all. Corporations ruled over all and zombie politicians became their lackeys. Mussolini was singing from his grave and legislatures became the financiers of wars and pimps for the oligarchs.

All the cash and wealth percolated to upper most regions, where such excessive wealth in so few hands becomes an obscenity, where corporatism is parasitism and political zombies can be bought for small change.

Butcher Boy is coming for a visit and pundits are speculating how many standing ovations he will receive from disassembled legislators. AIPAC is preparing for the future expanding its headquarters having seduced the sagging empire, as the tail wags the somnambulant dogs.

“Liberal Democracy” is another export item of the West and it appears nobody is buying it. Little wonder when the West just killed it. Why would anybody else want to buy it? Liberalism is an extinct term replaced by “Neoliberalism “ which is actually economic fascism where everybody worships the money tree.

Neoliberalism continues as the hang man of Democracy. One of its stated goals is to denigrate the role of government as it has so successfully done. Where political parties once had distinct options for voters they all sing from the neoliberal song book.

Democracy is socialism as we are social beings. Socialism is also democracy and all about humanism. But then drunken Senator Joe took on the job of purging anything resembling socialism from the system. The predatory capitalist warfare state must be singular in its purpose knowing no dissent, no humanist distractions. America is on the edge teetering.

Universities are supposed to be the last bastions of free thinking, free speech and honest histories. But now university presidents are fired, students jailed, curricula watered down and the whiff of corporatism lingers too long, as the donor class rules all.

As we celebrate the freeing of Julian Assange we must never forget the sacrifice he made in defense of freedom of the press; or how the corrupt British and American legal systems disgraced themselves in the eyes of the world.

The freeing of Julian Assange marks the beginning of the much longer fight to get rid of the rotted system that persecuted him. We must re-establish true democracy and the rights and freedoms that go with it. The lawless criminal anarchy of the West will only end when true democracy returns.

Presidents, prime ministers and chancellors are only the nominal heads of failed democracies hostage to the lobbyists, vested interests and bribes that pull their strings. Political parties have no identity other than being cheerleaders for the neoliberal ideology; one among many that have ruined Western Civilization.

Thus, elections become a parody, a spectacle of lies and pretenses and empty promises never kept.

There are too many casualties of this global crisis. The abject failure of democracy in the West has been a fundamental cause of the crisis.
