Enough is enough and more the enough. There has been too much said of the two leaders. For Canadians it has been been nine years of pure torture, having elected the son of an esteemed as prime minister and then finding the son did not have the father’s talents or intellect. It seemed the younger Trudeau entered politics on a whim trading on his father’s name.
Biden brags about being in politics for fifty-two years, but never should have gone beyond being vice-president and has been in the presidency four years too long.
The parties they “lead” are virtually merged at the hip as Canada’s Liberals behave like high school groupies when Democrat Hillary Clinton comes to town. Just as Parliamentarians gave a standing ovation to a WWll Nazi veteran. Standing ovations come a little too easily in both Parliament and Congress, where both are always ready to fork out more cash for more wars, no questions asked.
Accountability is supposed to be the very essence of democracy yet these two misfits linger in office unchallenged which might indicate their respective titles don’t really count for much in the age of neoliberalism when governments are in corporate capture, wars are forever and social democracy in the West is dead in the water.
Western leadership as they say in the military is AWOL- Absent Without Leave!
Esteemed Canadian journalist Diane Francis feels Canada and the US have so much in common she wrote Merger of the Century where she proposes the two countries formalize their union. History being as prescient as it is philosopher George Grant foresaw this would come about in this 1965 book Lament for a Nation. Francis has had a life time devotion trying to force a shot gun marriage aided and abetted by Harper and Trudeau the younger .
Maybe it is only inertia and the distraction of too many wars and slapstick political follies that they have not formalized the merger. Needless to say both will be pledging allegiance to the empires corporate wars at the upcoming NATO summit in Washington.
Have a great Sunday! Just a note in passing…
And, just as I'd like to see Biden step aside, I'd like to see Trudeau do the same.
So many failures and gaffs! For me one of the big ones was his broken promise to implement proportional representation.
I'd like to see both Biden and Trudeau replaced by firebrands that care about democracy and human rights. Not possible in this political climate, I know -- but I can dream...
They both suck major D.
