US Senators hit Canada for Tribute Taxes

In Roman times the provinces paid for the empires wars through tribute taxes. The same extortion goes on to this day.

How the crippled Canadian media is a cheerleader for the wanton militarism that is killing planet Earth.

We might want to consider in the year 2024, these medieval times, the wars and militarism of today are the death knell of planet Earth tomorrow.

I don’t spent much time following Canadian media and the above video is just one more reason why. It is really an extortion racket where it has a sworn duty to deny Canadians the truth about the world and our place in it.

When I do watch it my cringe muscles are working overtime and too often I am ready to cough up my cookies at the disgusting barrage of half-truths, cliches, lack of context and evasions. Propaganda has many subtle nuances so easy to detect for the wary eye.

In Canada the truth gets a very close shave. The media is the apologist for a mediocre and redundant government. Journalism becomes carefully scripted obfuscation and facile infotainment. Needless to say corporate ownership and the guiding hand of the empire next door help layer on the white wash.

Its called pay check journalism: don’t do, say, report or write any thing which might threaten the size of one’s pay check, when in doubt spin, spin, spin.

Thirty years ago the CBC was a big part of my life, for news and entertainment. Many of its journalists and program hosts were my much admired heroes’.

So! What's missing from the video below? What’s missing is the discussion centers on the relationship between Canada and the US and Canada’s obligation to kick in more money for America’s war mongering. There is no mention of a lot of relevant facts that bear on the discussion. Given a review of relevant issues Canada should tell the US senators to take a hike.

First , we should see the letter came from infamous American Republic senators who represent Washington’s warfare party. There isn’t a war they won‘t support. They are part of the bipartisan lunatic fringe riding the political gravy train.

The US is deeply in debt and is fighting wars by printing money it doesn’t have. Its debt stands at 35 trillion dollars. Its annual payment on the debt is one trillion dollars which is half of its national budget.

If we wonder why these are such inflationary times, war is the answer. War is a free lunch for profiteers as consumers pockets are picked clean.

The US and its NATO puppets account for 70% of global annual military spending which is more than the next 10 countries combined. You might say Washington’s financial portfolio is out of whack due to too many wars and out of control spending.

32 NATO countries are slave states to the empire’s wars, while the nefarious neoliberal ideology raids the public purse on behalf of the oligarchs.

Proportionately Canada is no better off. Our debt in 2022 was 1.3 trillion and in 2023, a “record high” of 2.1 trillion. All other Western countries are carrying alarming debt loads.

US President Biden has raised America’s debt more than any other president.

Russian and Chinese military spending combined is a fraction of what NATO spends.

For the past 100 years the US has used militarism and perpetual war to rule the world which is the death knell of planet.

NATO is an extortion racket where NATO members are required to contribute 2% of their GDP and as US debt explodes out of control this extortion could increase to 3 or 4% of GDP.

If we think wars are fought for some noble cause, they are fought by megalomaniacs refusing any limits on their greed and moral depravity.

Unfortunately war, debt peonage and despotism are the only languages the West can speak, when for the rest of the world peace and progress are the order of the day.

Canada is a very vulnerable country. Its does not think for itself but suffers a colonial mindset blindly in service to others. You might say the above video has a certain air of unreality and lacks relevance to the real world— there is no discussion of the real reasons the letter was sent .

News without full context is censorship and propaganda. The absence of context is information intentionally left out. A steady diet of spin and sound bites is all the mainstream media is capable of when it is not dishing out naked propaganda. Naked propaganda thrives where the media is corrupt and people are not paying attention.

Needless to say freedom of speech, the press and democracy are essential pillars of our societies. Where these are shattered we see the pitiful consequences in living color.
