We are so very fortunate to have expert analysts like Colonel Douglas Macgregor to tell us what the defunct Western media won’t. In this episode he provides excellent commentary on the world situation which is verifiably true. Judging Freedom is an excellent source where numerous experts are interviewed daily by Judge Napolitano.
“All government, according to Aristotle, is the means by which a privileged few arrange the distribution of property and law to the less fortunate many; in every instance an oligarchy, its lifespan dependent on the quality of the men charged with the management of its economic, political, and moral enterprise. Oligarchies bear a biological resemblance to cheese. Sooner or later, they turn rancid in the sun. Wealth accumulates, men decay; a band of brothers that once aspired to forming a wise and just government acquires the character of what Aristotle likened to that of “the prosperous fool,” a class of men ravenous in appetite for more—more banquets, more laurel wreaths and naval victories, more summer houses, portrait busts, and dancing girls—and so besotted by their love of money “they therefore imagine there is nothing it cannot buy.”
—Lapham, Lewis H.. Age of Folly: America Abandons Its Democracy . Verso Books. Kindle Edition.
We should be very alarmed that not only are we programed for passivity. We are now told what we must think under threat of loss of freedom, imprisonment and death by assassination. 108 journalists have been killed or murdered in Gaza.
Hosts of decadent yahoos try and tell us ,war, gold, money, power and prestige are the most important commodities in the world right now. But what ranks above all others is the truth, the real truth, and nothing but the truth. Where the truth does not prevail we pay a very high price up to and including total ruination.
What is happening now is because we have been lied to and deceived for decades and now the dam of truth and revelation has burst and we are inundated with the chaos that comes with crises imposed on us by failed and corrupt leadership, and it must be said, our own passive indifference. We have allowed our history to be slandered out of existence when it must be the constant reference point— a bench mark of our existence.
The consciousness of our civilizations is what sustains us. Where we allow this consciousness to be blocked, corrupted, and propagandized we pay the price accordingly. We must recognize at all times their are dark and powerful forces working behind the scenes to subvert the statutes and institutions of our societies to their own greedy and vile intentions.
With the collapse of democracy in the West chaos ensues. In too many instances this has been deliberately generated to obfuscate and block progressive reform to a better more just world.
We must never submit to the insane notion these are end times; They are times of great tumult for the world as it is. We must necessarily change and adapt to new eras as we have always had to do.
There are the false prophets, the desolate souls, who want us to believe this is the end of history, the final solution when it is no more than a self-serving insurrection to justify their greed and grotesque immorality.
We in the West like to think we have an exclusive franchise on democracy. In fact it died a sudden death in the 1980’s with the advent of the Neoliberal ideology. Neoliberalism is the complete ascendance of corporate power over both governments and the people they represent.
Neoliberalism is the disenfranchisement of populations as our governments no longer serve or are responsible to their populations. Politicians are no more than acolytes to corporate power, where crony and predatory capitalism are a run away freight train out of control, spawning greater wars and endless megalomania.
As John Ralston Saul points out below where capitalism “ runs free of the social system” not only is it not a natural state; it is utterly ruinous as we are seeing now. Where there is no accountability there is no democracy. Where false prophets prevail despotism follows.
“If allowed to run free of the social system, capitalism will attempt to corrupt and undermine democracy, which is after all not a natural state.”
The lies we have been told must be offset by the progressive reforms now pending.
There is no utopia; but dystopia is always stalking our consciousness.
If what happens in the present based on lies, propaganda and despotism, is left unchallenged it becomes a dismal future.
Hopefully, fifty or so years from now these times will be looked back on as a very dark age, leading to the dawning of a great reformation, a most worthy legacy for future generations.
Tribute to Lewis H. Lapham
Many years ago I subscribed to Harper’s Magazine. I always looked forward to the arrival of the next issue as Lewis Lapham was the editor-in-chief. Not only was I going to read his latest insights on the world, but those of other distinguished writers. He is one of America’s greatest journalists, too rarely heard. Like so many others his brilliant writing and insights remain on the margins. What he said and wrote decades ago is even truer today. We are more than ever in the cold calculating embrace of the “yahoos” of Gulliver’s Travels.
Rereading his Age of Folly is an eloquent reminder of the critical importance of history. Too easily slandered out of existence when it should be the benchmark of our existence.
Stunningly great and good.
But how many today...are knowledgeable about our past???
