The walkaway untouchables are destroying our jurisprudence and our rich humanist legacy dating back to antiquity.

The “go along get along “ hierarchy where the mindless pack mentality prevails.

At at a time when civil liberties, and freedom of the press are ruthlessly suspended and censored, politicians are left free to say what they want, without any regard for the truth or consequences of what they say. What they say is unchallenged by a media that has sold its soul to the gods of war, and populations that are historically and politically illiterate . We are now in societies where lies told often enough become rooted as truths of our times. Tragically, there are lies told long ago that persist to this day only because of our historic illiteracy and a totally corrupted propagandist media.

Politicians are the parasites thriving on our historic illiteracy. Reference to historical fact reveals them as the self-serving charlatans and hypocrites they are. They are prisoners to their invincible present, clowns in their golden hour, celebrating their fifteen minutes of fame, where ideologies rule over common sense, where personal integrity is sacrificed to the pack mentality and obligations to the electorate are buried deep.

Biden, like his Canadian counterpart, for very different reasons should be removed from office; but both are “untouchables” as they are both by products of broken democracies where the processes for removal and replacement in their respective countries are as broken and rusty as the failed democracies they represent.

At a time of great crisis when strong vibrant democracies would serve us well they have been allowed to die on the vine incrementally over decades, buried even deeper by the re-emergence of fascism in the West.

We are also so in a time when there is a war against nation states, and we as NATO members are expected to sacrifice our national priorities, identities and economies to the greater glory of a defunct empire in precipitous decline.

NATO thought they could push Russia over the cliff but it has emerged stronger ever.

Leaders of the 30 NATO states were all too willing to betray their countries to serve the empire’s imperialist wars, and Western Europe has paid a heavy price. The aggression directed against Russia backfired on Europe.

Where NATO is supposed to be the protector of Europe it facilitated it’s economic cannibalization. To go to war against one’s chief trading partner is a fool’s errand and NATO leaders failed to see the obvious consequences of their incredible stupidity and failure of due diligence. Their loyalty is not to their nation states and the peoples they are supposed to serve. They serve the empire as its bought and paid for vassals.

Where the values and practices of democracy have collapsed and been corrupted out of existence accountability and civility are gone, chaos and anarchy prevail, leaders are left to recklessly freewheel. Populations retreat into apathy, cynicism and despondency betrayed by their governments mandated to protect their interests, and not commit treason against they very people who elected them. The alienation between governments and peoples they are supposed to serve has never been wider, deeper or more threatening.

When Barack Obama came to power as president he was touted as the president of hope and reform. He had the talent and intelligence to fill the role. But his presidency proved once and for all that no single president is going to make a difference. There are no messiah waiting in the wings. Like all presidents since Kennedy they are servants to the unelected power elites that control Washington. Obama was one more president to be whipped into obedient service to the gods of war and empire.

As America journalist Diana Johnstone noted US Presidents are visiting CEO’s presiding over a board of directors( cabinet) where the decisions have already been made.

If Obama ever had the intention of being a reformer he made the mistake of surrounding himself with the same old people, who would deliver the same old status quo. He needed to bring with him a slate of like minded progressives. As it was he served as had his predecessors had as the nominal rhetorical head of state.

The litmus test of Obama’s presidency came early when he was asked if his administration would address the criminality of the previous Bush administration. He declined and resigned all in one moment:

Mr. Obama added that he also had “a belief that we need to look forward as opposed to looking backwards.”

“And part of my job,” he continued, “is to make sure that, for example, at the C.I.A., you’ve got extraordinarily talented people who are working very hard to keep Americans safe. I don’t want them to suddenly feel like they’ve got to spend their all their time looking over their shoulders.”—NYT, January11th, 2009

In a system in desperate need of enforced accountability, in steady decline over decades there was none to be had. Accountability, liability, culpability, are fundamental precepts of democratic government. Where these are absent they are a retreat from governance, anarchy ensues, and becomes one of the fundamental causes of the political chaos we see today, not just in the US, but in the collective West as a whole. Empire lays waste to democracy and all its essential tenets and processes.

His obsequious endorsement of the sinister CIA leaves George Keenan, one of the founders of the CIA rolling in his grave. Keenan later regretted the sinister and dark force the CIA became. Keenan was a post war diplomat pushed aside as the warfare insurrectionists came to dominate government in the 1950’s and 1960’s.

If there was ever an agency that should have someone looking over their shoulder it is the CIA!

Where the collective West claims to be the defender of social democracy around the world, it is no more than another of our tawdry hypocrisies.

One of Obama’s last acts before leaving office was to sign a bill for one trillion dollars for improvement and updating America’s nuclear arsenal, in a country that is a slave state to the empire’s wars.

The walkaway untouchables.

“Do it but don’t implicate me”—This is “plausible deniability” where presidents allow high power bureaucrats and agencies to do their dirty work on the condition they are not implicated…. and they are left as walkaway untouchables.

Where there is no accountability, no liability an elite class emerges as walkaway untouchables. Those who rise to very senior positions in the hierarchy are granted auto-immunity from prosecution or accountability.

The rise and fall of empires is one of history’s indelible cycles. The cycles are indelible because Humankind is imperfect and subject to the follies and corruptions destroying the empire’s they build to the false gods of money, power and lucre.

Tyrants must erase history, truth and thought as these are the universal whistleblowers revealing them as the charlatans and despots they are. When all else fails, when democracy and its institutions and tenets have been stolen, these are our weapons of last resort.

Populations are so thoroughly indoctrinated by infotainment and propaganda we become hostile and threatened by any thought or idea challenging our belief system. Belief systems become “pain blockers”, indifferent to truth and reality, readily endorsed and reinforced by political and media charlatans.(One of the primary reasons I blog is to protect my beliefs against assaults on it by propagandists and war mongers).

Where there is no accountability, no liability; presidents, prime ministers, politicians, high powered ideologues, and bureaucrats become walkaway untouchables into lush retirements, immune from political, judicial, or media accountability.

Justice Jackson speaks to present times

In his opening comments to the 1945 Nuremberg War Crime Tribunals, US Supreme Court Justice Robert H. Jackson, as the presiding judge noted:

“The common sense of mankind demands that law shall not stop with the punishment of petty crimes by little people. It must also reach men who possess themselves of great power and make deliberate and concerted use of it to set in motion evils which. leave no home in the world untouched. It is a cause of that magnitude that the United Nations will lay before Your Honors.”

Once again we see the walkaway untouchables,…. reach men who possess themselves of great power and make deliberate and concerted use of it to set in motion evils which leave no home in the world untouched.

Even as the Nuremberg trials were in progress, under auspices of the US, America was already setting in motion the first Cold War against the USSR. Any Nazi’s with skills to advance the imminent Cold war became “paper clip refugees”— employees of the US government.

Many senior German Nazis served in senior positions in NATO in its early days.

As Justice Jackson was presiding over the Nuremberg trials the Dulles brothers were committing treason against the USA:

“If their powerful enemy in the White House[F D Roosevelt] had survived the war, the Dulles brothers would likely have faced serious criminal charges for their wartime activities. Supreme Court Justice Arthur Goldberg, who as a young lawyer served with Allen in the OSS, later declared that both Dulleses were guilty of treason.

But with Franklin Roosevelt gone from the arena, as of April 1945, there was not enough political will to challenge two such imposing pillars of the American establishment.”

To fully understand the events of today Talbot’s book is essential reading. The Dulles brothers were the original “walkaway untouchables” followed by many more in an empire where there is no accountability, no liability, and no democracy.

As it is, the 2024 presidential race will be a ritual exercise where the winner will sing from the empire’s song book, all others need not apply. Another president, another walkaway.

As one of the world’s leading economists I highly recommend the following video. Economist Michael Hudson has a very clear view of the world and the tremendous shifts taking place. He has the added gift of explaining the situation in terms we can all understand.

Hudson affirms my conviction we really are in WW lll and it is mostly economic. The Ukraine conflict is but one skirmish in a much larger hybrid global war. The world is now a very unitary entity and the outcome of the war will have dramatic impacts on all our lives.

The real enemies in this war are not Russia and China. The real enemies are a cabal of Western leaders, bankers and corporatists who want to establish global supremacy without regard for social, humanitarian or environmental consequences. Theirs is the cause of pure power, greed and fascist domination of the world.

The last half century has seen the unipolar world where the imperialist West has extorted the wealth of nations around the world. This has been an “extractive” capitalism where wealth is accumulated and hoarded for the 1%.

This is now changing over to a multipolar world where capitalism is more “inclusive”and this will result in greater social justice and opportunity for all.

Capitalism is not the enemy. The reckless, corrupt, deregulated capitalism of the past half century is.

I do not deny any persons right to be a billionaire, When we have too many multi-billionaires with fleets of yachts that becomes a pressing social global issue.

There is a Middle Way and we must find it.

Where the mainstream media is propagandist, sharing is more important than ever.
