The ill-mannered whistle-stop West; Burning down the future
Where evil is pure and we do not see beyond the barrel of a gun.
Forest fires are often unavoidable acts of nature, leading to eventual renewal. Wars are acts of man’s darkest nature and cultural pyromania.
Diabolical times and Julian Assange must be freed.
Peaceful co-existence builds better futures for all.
Note: “whistle stop” is a some what archaic term referring to towns so small and of little importance trains only blew their whistle as they passed through.

I live in an urban environment. The province where I live is carpeted with forests and every summer is fire season. Many fires are caused by lightning, and many by the hands of man. When the fires are close enough and the winds are right a smoke laden atmosphere destroys our air quality where the young and the old must retreat indoors. The smoke haze blocks the sun, tinting the landscape an eerie orange pall.
I have never been in a war zone but the eerie orange is other worldly as war zones are. War zones I am sure are ten times worse as the landscape is more than than toxic smoke and eerie color. In war zones death can an be instantaneous and arrive in so many different ways. War zones are never acts of nature but the diabolical creations of humankind and I can only imagine as hell on Earth.
For this reason and too many others it is very difficult to quell the rage I see my culture and civilization inflicting on the world. I would like to deliver a blanket apology to the rest of the world for the cretinous behavior of Western political elites; but any such civility towards others in these times is considered treason and/or collaboration. The ill-mannered-whistle-stop-West has put out a big sign saying Do Not Disturb- We are burning down the future!, always a sad spectacle to watch, also known as self- immolation.

Many years ago I was flying to India. As we approached the Asian continent it occurred to me I was flying over the most densely populated part of the world. There were dozens of cities down below with populations in the millions. I was flying from one of the most sparsely populated countries in the world to the most densely populated. It occurred to me my Canada is just a whistle stop on the way to the hub of where most of the world’s peoples resides. We are very much a periphery nation on the periphery on our Southern neighbor the world’s resident rogue super power.
As for our neighbors to the South I see them as cultural pyromaniacs. They have a long history of too many wars in too many places. They are now on a rampage and its an open question how many countries they torch before they collapse. As for my own country we are apprentices to the pyromaniacs and just as culpable. Burning down countries is compulsive psychotic behavior for which we have yet to find an antidote.

When it became clear the US was going to sack Iraq in 2003 archeologists, anthropologists and other related disciplines lobbied Washington to protect the museums of Iraq. In ancient times modern day Iraq was part of Mesopotamia, where the earliest civilizations lived and warred. Iraq’s museum's were full of thousands of priceless irreplaceable artifacts. Assurances were given but when the sacking took place the museums were ignored, looted and thousands of artifacts disappeared for ever.
Saddam Hussein was so audacious as to want to develop his oil to the benefit of his country and this was the price paid. This was the same Hussein who carried out a bloody war (1980-1988) against Iran as an American proxy, just as Zelensky is doing in Ukraine today.
What happened to Iraq’s museums is so typical of the ill-mannered West.

By the time you read this Julian Assange’s extradition will probably be complete and he will be in an American prison for the rest of his life in solitary confinement.
His incarceration in the USA is not the end; but the beginning of a resurgent effort to gain his release. His persecutors have demonstrated their vileness and contempt for human values and fairness. His martyrdom demonstrates the profound collapse of Western institutions, none other than our justice system, democracy and freedom of the press.
Burning down the future is the burning of the institutions that maintained us as civil democracies and the flames envelope us all. We have been betrayed by our elites and the betrayal will be passed on to future generations, which we cannot allow.
His persecution is a profound indictment against the law courts that railroaded him, his fellow journalists who did not speak in his defense, and the politicians who have whored themselves to the god’s of war and fascism.
He is being burned at the stake for defending our right to know which has been suppressed and abused for too long, and is only going to get worse before it gets better

As fascism re-emerges in the West our delusional elites, speaking for only 13% of the world’s population, make the fatuous claim they own the world and it is theirs to run. A purely audacious claim, especially so when they have proven conclusively over the last century of bloodshed, corruption and naked imperialism they are least qualified to be global custodian.
A further disqualification is the petulant threat of nuclear war to achieve their hegemonic ambitions, as they hold the world hostage to endless wars.
US Secretary of State Antony Blinken is meeting with Chinese leaders and president Xi Jinping has made the point that the world is big enough for both super powers to co-exist peacefully.
Blinken speaks only for neoconservative war mongers who set American foreign policy and their megalomania. Where Xi Jinping speaks for rationality and rapprochement, Blinken speaks for war and global fascism.
The dominant and central issue in this war of words must at all times be seen as a peaceful transition to a multipolar world where peaceful co-existence prevails and greater fairness for all is the standard.
For the second time in less than a hundred years the world is fighting another war against fascism and multipolarity is the best and only defense available. Where there is no countervail , no accountability, no real freedom, the world will lapse into a very enduring dark age. In other words diversity and true democracy are essential to our salvation.
The whistle-stop West pursues its racist war mongering ethnocentrism, when the central issue is the world must transition to a more holistic peaceful co-existence for planetary survival.
The West can be part of the problem or part of the solution. If it does not become part of the solution very soon, history will condemn it to being an ill-mannered whistle stop rump as the rest of the world moves on.
