The Darkest Age of Straw Dogs, Then and Now
"Heaven and earth are ruthless, and treat the myriad creatures as straw dogs;"-- C. Lau’s English translation of Ch. Five of the Tao Te Ching.
It is a lesser people who feel they must denigrate other societies so as to put its own in a posture of mortifying self-righteousness. This is especially despicable when the denigration, is in the form of lies and and propaganda, used to justify war, violence and brinkmanship.
It is also a lesser society whose leaders and populations practice and silently condone such blatant racist bigotry. It sustains and perpetuates barbarism. We must see the world as it is not how barbarian war mongers defile it to serve their wicked behaviors. They have been playing the infantile game of divide and conquer much too long--author
“Straw dogs or grass dogs (simplified Chinese: 刍狗; traditional Chinese: 芻狗; pinyin: chú gǒu), figures of dogs made out of straw, were used as ceremonial objects in ancient China, as a substitute for the sacrifice of living dogs. Chú gǒu has been used figuratively to refer to anything discarded after use.”—Google
Preface
As this blog makes direct references to Chinese custom and history I am prefacing it with a few additional comments.
As both an artist and blogger with an interest in history and politics I see the world through a prism of both political history and art history. My specialty is Ceramics giving me an opportunity to know and appreciate oriental art, especially their strong tradition in ceramics established long before the West and from which we have borrowed generously. Art is global. Every country has its traditions and legacies that must be nurtured along with other aspects of their cultures.
A horrendous mistake we make in these barbaric times is we only see other cultures in term of threats, war, stealing their wealth, and denying their inherent right to self -determination and a peaceful co-existence. Our lobotomized leaders only see the world in terms of power, money and endless war. They are Philistines willing to erase whole cultures in pursuit of their moronic megalomania.
China is the world’s old continuous civilization, its population is 1.4 billion, and that is a lot of mouths to feed. Where our cultures date back a few hundred years theirs date back a few thousand; yet Western elites condescendingly treat china and other countries world wide as impertinent up starts.
The barbarians are those who measure culture in terms of the megalomanical pursuit of wealth and political power. This is a very narrow and sociocidal definition paving the way for collapse as previous empires have suffered repeatedly throughout history.
The war mongers destroying the West must propagandize us into seeing the cultures they target for war as nothing more than stereotypical inferiors. They must destroy any empathy we might have for them. In doing so they internalize hate and violence in their own societies. It becomes an unacceptable and self-destructive norm.
I refuse to direct hate and bigotry at other countries just so some loathsome morons can justify their contemptible barbarism turning us into straw dogs.
We can never allow barbaric globalist war mongers to shape our vision of the world. Nor can we allow allow one country or empire to dominate the world. We must work toward the genuine multipolar world where greater harmony is our only salvation.
History has a very cavernous presence reaching back into ancient times telling us so much about ourselves where we have been where we are going and where we are now.
Tyrants slander and bury History as it is essential to their treachery. History is the whistle blower incriminating them. It is the dog nipping at their heels reminding them of its constant presence and omniscient authority. They try so hard to run from its truths, but its bite goes deep when it bares its teeth.
In ancient China it was the practice to burn straw dogs as a ceremonial way of appeasing the gods. It was humane to burn straw dogs rather than the actual dogs. For as we also see, clay and bronze dogs were cherished as part of their art heritage.
Their burial chambers were not considered tombs, but “palaces underground”. They were loaded with priceless art treasures passed on to us 2500 years later, a tremendous legacy…. They were telling us their story!
One of the lesser known incidents in the US sacking of Iraq in 2003 was the theft and destruction of thousands of pieces of art and artifacts from Iraq’s 65 museums. These were items dating back thousands of years to the dawn of civilization in the Middle East, also referred to as the “cradle of civilization”.
In spite of urgent petitions from archeologists and anthropologists and other concerned parties the US military left these sites unprotected and they were looted as a result. Crimes against humanity come in many shapes and sizes. This was an atrocity in its own right. Not only did Iraqis see their country destroyed, and 500,000 children die because of economic sanctions on medical supplies… Their story was stolen.
The term “straw dog” has come to have momentous significance in our times. It has become their golden age.
Politicians, presidents, prime ministers and chancellors ar reduced to exist as apologist straw dogs serving war mongering masters.
We the peoples, are straw dogs by virtue of our passive indifference. We are Hillary Clinton’s disposable “deplorables”
As we saw in Iraq and now in Gaza there are no exceptions for women and children. They are not straws dogs left to walk the streets and enjoy flush retirements. They are bombed out of existence in their hospital beds.
It has been written that the notorious head of the CIA, Allan Dulles was in the habit of sizing up people he met as“straw dogs”. People he could use and exploit in his wicked covert and illegal activities. It is also said that had FDR not suffered a premature death Dulles would have been charged with treason for undermining presidential orders.
So many other presidents since have seen their executive powers undermined by high powered unelected bureaucrats well positioned to do so.
What was an eccentricity for Dulles became habitual for America’s insurrectionists perpetuating their warfare state.
It is a brutal historic irony that 2500 years ago the Chinese used actual straw dogs for their ceremonial sacrifices. Today the war mongers sacrifice live women and children in their genocidal holocaust. Today there is a pandemic of straw dogs, whole societies are morally bankrupt , and the body counts of women and children set a new standard for barbarism in what are supposed to be “post modern times “— whatever that is supposed to mean.
We are all flawed human beings. The good try to do better, the bad are content with pure evil.
Perfection is forever beyond our reach, failing to even try pursuing it, we die a languorous death.
Despots are public enemy number one as they attempt to impose quick self-serving patch jobs on issues demanding carefully considered consensus. This is the essence of democracy and why we need it more than ever.
Despotism is the terminal pandemic, constantly inviting us into its maw.
If we approach people in a spirit of friendship they will respond in kind. If we approach them with hostility and deceit in our eyes they will respond in kind. This is the essence of geopolitics lowbrow Western elites have yet to learn.
Wars have become perpetual temper tantrums, sociopathic flirtations with the final extinction. It is our job to show some polite discretion.
