The essential dissolution of NATO
34 years ago the USSR collapsed. NATO was left in place as the colonizer of Europe, and to ultimately betray it.
The dissolution of NATO will mark a new beginning for Europe—an opportunity to assert greater control over its foreign policy, bolster its defense capabilities, and embrace a sovereign future. This shift will position Europe as a viable and influential player in the emerging global multipolar world order."
The world is going through dynamic change and old institutions and values must be altered, retired or updated. NATO should have been disbanded at the end of the Cold War in 1991. Instead, it went from being a defense alliance /colonizer of Europe to agent of the empire, fighting its wars and paying heavy tribute taxes.
Its 32 member states account for 60% of the world’s global annual military spending— while claiming to be an agency for world peace.
International polling has shown it is in fact considered the greatest threat to world peace with its endless appetite for more wars.
With the Ukraine war Europeans are learning that empires have no loyalties, serving only their capricious self interest, no friends, no allies, and consequences be damned. Europeans are paying a heavy price for a war fought and lost under the auspices of NATO.
At the end of WW ll Europe was liberated only to be recolonized. Eighty years later it has been “liberated” again, to rebuild and make its own way in the world. Such are the momentous casualties of forever wars.
Colonization like imperialism is another taboo word rarely mentioned in the West even though both are definitive of our existence— Much like neoliberalism which is the poisoned gold chalice of our existence. Colonization steals the heart, soul, and wealth of nations. When it is over the landscape is in ruins, and its inhabitants left dazed and dazzled.
Europe is recovering from a war that never should have happened. They were so foolish to be duped into it. Even though they are well programmed to hate Russia and Russians it is only the fool hearty who go to war against their major trading partner and energy supplier. Europe has been so foolish as to sacrifice prosperity on the altar of hate and war as a mindless supplicant to the empire more than willing to betray them.
In 1967 French President Charles De Gaulle refused to have foreign troops on French soil— he had it right.
A lesser known cause of the Ukraine war is that Russia and Europe were developing a mutually beneficial trading relationship. What better way to destroy it than the presiding empire blowing up the Nord Stream pipelines for starters?
With the passage of time and the golden clarity of hindsight we possess, it becomes evident that, despite its relatively small scale, the Ukraine war was pivotal in our history. Amid all the death and destruction, it stands as a turning point, exposing the deep rot and moral depravity within the empire. It was, ultimately, an exposé of failure upon which an empire would impale itself.
The perpetrators of war overlooked one of its most critical aspects: wars are also revelations. In this instance, so flagrantly and disastrously executed, no amount of lies or propaganda can conceal the truth. Though truth may arrive late , when it does, it delivers a fatal bite to the morally bankrupt empire responsible.
But is peace in Ukraine just a change of venue for the empire? From Korea to Vietnam, Iraq to Syria, Libya to Afghanistan, and finally Ukraine, the pattern remains. Will it shift to China for the main event? The empire, in its naivety, will attempt to court Russia as an ally against China. But it’s 30 years too late—after all, in 2000, Putin proposed Russian membership in NATO and was rebuffed.
Russia and China, firmly committed to peace and prosperity, have shown remarkable forbearance in the face of the empire’s relentless wars and belligerence. They understand what America refuses to acknowledge: planetary survival depends on peaceful cooperation among all nations.
America clings to its pipe dream of unitary global hegemony, laying waste to itself and its future in the process. The verdicts of history are inevitable, as humanity's self -destructive proclivities remain ever so present and predictable.
The dissolution of NATO will mark a new beginning for Europe—an opportunity to assert greater control over its foreign policy, bolster its defense capabilities, and embrace a sovereign future. This shift will position Europe as a viable and influential player in the emerging global multipolar world order.
So many of our failures stem from a lack of understanding of history and a willful disregard for its lessons. We are historically illiterate societies, repeating the same mistakes time and again. History provides the anchor of our identity—without it, we drift aimlessly in the doldrums of time and eternity-author
Thank you for this! Decades late, but still beneficial. You can watch Jeffrey Sachs' speech from the link here: https://kathleenmccroskey.substack.com/p/50-years-of-failed-policy
Back in 2013 I wrote a really good (IMHO) article about NATO and my editor at English Pravda was so pleased he popped it right online, verbatim. That stayed there until English Pravda was taken down (big mistake, I think) at the beginning of the "special military operation." NATO is an evil in this world and operates the same way as the interlocking treaties that brought on WW-I. And it was set up as an end-run around the UN's consensus system, and, of course, because USA could not control the UN. Soon, Americans will be asking "When did we lose Europe" just like years ago they were asking "When did we lose China." Hegemony writ large.
The lying West...As Prof. Sachs stated in a recent video: NATO should have been dismantled after the Warsaw Pact ended because of the collapse of the USSR. Instead...NATO keeps feeding itself one lie after another and the mentally incapacitated West doesn't see anything wrong and continues the war/fear mongering Russophobia.
