The Decadent West flounders on

Democracy has died the death of a thousand corporate cuts.

We are living in a time where the greatest lies ever are being told. Hundreds of millions don’t even realize how thoroughly and contemptuously we are being lied to.

In 2014 Princeton University did a study on the state of democracy in the USA. It concluded that far from being a democracy it is in fact an oligarchy. An oligarchy is of course where the state is owned, controlled and run for the sole benefit of the political and power elites. A decade later it is truer than ever. The control is absolute.

Princeton was a little late in the game as political philosopher Sheldon Wolin wrote his seminal book Democracy Inc in 2010. Unfortunately not many people read books these days as Wolin was kind enough to spell it all out for us. He labels our present state of being as inverted totalitarianism— which means we are an upside down pseudo-democracy where we have all the trappings of democracy but no real democracy.
