The Cannibalization of the West
“Every decent man is ashamed of the government he lives under.” ― H. L. Mencken
“The worst government is often the most moral. One composed of cynics is often very tolerant and humane. But when fanatics are on top there is no limit to oppression.”
“The notion that a radical is one who hates his country is naïve and usually idiotic. He is, more likely, one who likes his country more than the rest of us, and is thus more disturbed than the rest of us when he sees it debauched. He is not a bad citizen turning to crime; he is a good citizen driven to despair.”
― H.L. Mencken

H. L .Mencken, like Mark Twain, is one of the very greatest of Americans. Both were erudite men of letters, great perception and keen viewers of the American scene. Both remain today as preeminent “village elders” worth consulting especially in these times of crisis.
Theirs, like the Kennedy legacy, can never be erased. The tragedy of America is that all the wrong voices have center stage. There is a host of great men and women, past and present, whose voices should prevail. Mencken’s “monkey house” prevails while the brain trust of wisdom and common sense is pushed to the margins.
The insurrection against wisdom, common sense, peace and social justice must end.
America has a habit of pushing aside its true patriots, as well as killing them outright. This is a necessity for empire’s to exist, a necessity of imperialism and all the sociopathic traits of empire where racism, extortion and war become the norms. As the late Henry Kissinger pointed out empires have no friends or enemies, they just have “interests”, and as history shows these interests are hotly pursued leaving a trail of blood, death and betrayal in their wake.
Empires have the very sleazy habit of manufacturing enemies where non exist as a necessary pretext for extravagant militarism and endless wars. If a fire cracker goes off in Timbuktu, it is a threat to America’s national security. Where a foreign leader might mention self-determination and getting a fair shake they become a target.
Kissinger’s career as Secretary of State is stark verification of the evils of empire. Where he served to build the empire, his present day successor is desperately sifting through the ruins, as the undertaker in charge— blind to the fact endless war only accelerates the demise of the empire and the plight of the American peoples, and indeed, the peoples of the world. The empire has so many toxic talons in too many places.
It can easily be concluded the zombified hubris of the empire is killing America.
Mencken was never a mincer of words, and as the saying goes… he called a spade a spade. His contempt for the political class was withering and rings truer today than ever. Political and democratic decline has been precipitous as government has walked away from governance and democracy to become acolytes and apologists to a dying empire.
As democracy declines so too do the skill sets required to run government effectively; also the quality of people attracted to serve declines. In Menckenian terms government becomes the “monkey house.”
Democracy is a process where its integrity must be respected.
The very things that kill us are the ones we refuse to address. We celebrate the symptoms and analyze them to death. Cancer, whether it is medical or societal can only be cured when treatment is under taken. How would you feel going to the doctor, being diagnosed and then sent home without your malady identified? That would be malpractice on the part of the doctor.
Quite simply, we live in highly repressive societies where the symptoms are pandemic, but nobody, most notably the derelict MSM and ivory tower intellectuals refuse to address the issues and ideologies fragmenting our societies.
Where there is no cohesive equilibrium there is no society.
Until the issues and ideologies that fragment our societies become part of our political and social dialogue the decline is iron clad.
It must also be recognized there are powerful forces—the globalists— who want the world reduced to their dreamy feudal/fascist enclave— which just happens to be the driving force behind WW lll.
These are either end times or a transitioning to better futures, the choice is ours.
In the image above Mencken invokes the unmentionable reality; cannibals and cannibalization. It is the fate of empires late in life, and in decline, to cannibalize the slave states that sustain them, economically, socially and politically, the vortex that sucks all into ruination. Empires suck the life blood out of their vassals to save themselves, when in fact they have no enemies other than their delusional ambitions and compulsive hubris that bury rationality, humanism and common sense.
When war, moral and fiscal bankruptcy, and endless militarism are seen as salvation the light of civilization is fast fading.
Cannibalization is a grotesque death. Whole societies are eaten away by the empire’s insatiable appetites, for blood, war, genocide and lucre.
