Selective Memory Loss, ADD, Willful Ignorance?(SMLADDWI)
Readers. I need your help to sort this one out.
I need your help folks! We are faced with one deep dark abyss and we have to figure out why the Collective West (CW) is so prone to selective memory loss, attention deficit disorder, and willful Ignorance? Put that all together and you get: SMLADDWI!
One thing we know for sure is that wars emanate from our political and economic elites, or, if you prefer, our economic and political dregs depending on your point of view. I cannot decide whether they suffer from selective memory loss, ADD(Attention Deficit Disorder), or willful ignorance—maybe one, maybe the other, maybe all three? One thing I know for sure is that we get must get to the bottom of the issue and solve it quickly. As you may have noticed from my earlier blogs I am obsessive -compulsive on the issue as it goes to the very core of our societies and is crippling our future. Being the age I am my future is short but for my children and grand children, and everybody else’s, they have much longer futures that are threatened.
There are constants and variables in very crisis. Among the constants we have a conclave of doddering presidents, feckless prime ministers, and stupefied chancellors all dancing around in the ruins with caps in hand, bought and paid for, quibbling over how many tanks to send to Ukraine to fight a war already lost. A war that never should have happened—Were they more rational and responsible leaders instead of being hapless functionaries in service to their glutinous imperial master.
The variables are monstrous, should be of great concern, and are very open ended. These are the great unknowns that in our heart of hearts we really know as the abyss gets darker and more foreboding.
We have a legacy of great thinkers defining the symptoms for us they are the ones without selective amnesia, ADD, and willful ignorance. Four such examples are philosopher John Ralston Saul when he talks about the colonization of the mind and soul and precious levels of consciousness. There is the brilliant trilogy of Chalmers Johnson who tells us we can have democracy, or empire but we can’t have both! There is psychologist and psychiatrist Carl Jung, who tells us how war is both sustained psychosis and megalomania. There is Hannah Arendt, one of the greatest political thinkers of the twentieth century.
These four are from the long list of Western grandees, the men and women, who are the guide posts of our existence yet we shun their wisdom, their scholarship, and visions like dirty laundry.
The tragedy of America is that its great thinkers and visionaries are treated as lepers, while buffoons, Philistines, and Yahoos are left to drive the nation deeper into the abyss.
While we debate the impact of AI(Artificial Intelligence) on this post modern world we forget basic the tenets of our own intelligence as we walk away from, common sense, civility, equilibrium, consciousness and empathy for others. We claim to be the bipedal upright Man as we sink back in all fours with badly chosen ideologies.
We are in a time when history and intellectualism are heresies to be stamped out of existence. This is a requirement for ruinous ideologies, like war, ruthless capitalism and neoliberalism to prevail—also the prerequisites for global fascism, as neoliberalism is economic fascism used to colonize unwary nations.
We are told quite audaciously this is the end of history. As if we have laid the ground work for the ultimate political, social and economic model. There is no alternative, no other options, no dissent allowed- just shut up and believe. Fascist absolutism is the biggest threat to the world after all these eons of time.
“At the same time, neoliberalism’s relentless diminution of nonmonetized existence, such as being knowledgeable and thoughtful about the world, converged with the privatization choking off access to higher education for the many. A generation turned away from liberal arts education was also turned against it.

The industrial revolution started over 200 years ago. We have yet to come to grips with the ethical humanism required to go with it.
It is all very simple.
It is all about corruption and money.
Most Americans would prefer living on an estate in Beverly Hills than in a house with bars on the windows in South Central.
Play the game with anyone called “What’s Your Price?”
Every person has a price even if they deny at the beginning that they do.
Here is the deal. The person in the game lives a “regular life” with a mortgage, car payment, kids, medical insurance and car insurance etc. Their budget leaves a little for savings and a few weekend getaways.
Offer this person an amount of money to get a divorce for no real reason. They will keep saying “no” until you get up in the hundreds of thousands. Maybe until a few million. But keep upping the price and eventually something will click in this persons head to make them take the money and run.
Their thoughts of lounging on a beach in Tahiti with no responsibilities overtakes the love they had for their wife/husband and kids.
Bribes to members of Congress. Progressive anti-war candidates who support Medicare for All and who want to see the homeless problem solved and who are anti-US interventionism will quickly change their tune when big checks and power are dangled over their hands.
Think AOC. She was about all these things then she was read “The Riot Act” in Pelosi’s office and suddenly she did a 180.
So, play that game with anyone and keep a tally of how many will “take the money and run” and how many stick to their principles and love.
Corruption rules.
The usual guilty one: greed and corruption. Honesty used to be the best medicine....alas, no longer. Or perhaps something in the drinking water? :-)
