Presidential Debates showcase the political paralysis of the West.
Canned content for consumer consumption
The West, as led and dominated by the USA, has reached an historic pivot point where it must repudiate war and empire. To do otherwise it faces a dismal future. This is not a matter of opinion but an acknowledgement of what history teaches us.
Like the glut of canned content ads that preceded the closing the statements of the the candidates on ABC it was a another soapy political event. Yet another hackneyed bout of political theater for consumer consumption with empty rhetoric and more grist for the duplicitous media mill.
There is momentous change ahead but these are not the agents of change. They will arrive at a later date.
Governments of the West speak of democracy but it is in short supply and the paralysis won’t abate until it returns. Democracy, liberalism, political integrity for the interim are archaic terms waiting to be dusted off and refurbished.
Governments of the West are in corporate capture where they are in bondage to the vested interests controlling them.
American politicians profess loyalty to the Republic while serving the fading parasitic empire. The suffering of the Republic can only be alleviated when the empire is “defunded” and the Republic and its peoples get the full attention so deserved.
Just as NATO leaders profess loyalty to their respective nation states they are colonized in service to the empire’s wars.
So called Western democracies are riddled with ruinous ideologies, ranging from neoliberalism, militarism, neoconservatism, predatory capitalism, imperialism, globalism, where social contracts have been shattered, wealth is privatized and debt socialized. Governments of the West have been entertaining a rolling coup d’etat of pernicious ideologies for decades. Now the day of reckoning is here.
Politicians of the West claim to be agents of change when they have abdicated the sworn obligations to deliver peace, order and good government. There can be no Building Back Better or Making America Great Again where politicians have no control over the levers of power. These exist only as political slogans and will only become realities where long term planning and stated goals are reached in a timely manner— this would preclude the ongoing addiction to forever wars.
Russia and China did not rebuild their economies and prosperity through waging war but through meticulous long term planning where objectives were met punctually.
For lapsed Western democracies beginning with the USA the road to redemption begins with the recognition governments are captive to forces and ideologies beyond their control. Corporate power, oligarchies, the Deep State, the Military Industrial Congressional Complex (MICC), powerful lobbyists and vested interests control government. Until these dark forces are tamed the paralysis is endemic.
Trump is not the solution, only the messenger. When he says the Biden administration is the worst ever he is right. The Biden administration has been a culminating event preceded by the disastrous administrations of Obama and Bush ll. The presidency, and the parties have been self-liquidating and turned inside out. It is a positive that Robert Kennedy Jr and Tulsi Gabbard endorse Trump. How much influence they might have remains an open question?
On the other hand, it is deeply alarming the sinister Dick Cheney endorses Kamela Harris. He is an agent of chaos, collapse and paralysis, a charter member of the neoconservative cabal so instrumental in destroying the Republic.
The fading empire is tilting at windmills refusing to accept it alone does not define its place in the world. Power and privilege are always in constant flux, especially in a world where change is on steroids. Change must be managed with deft diplomacy, statesmanship and moderation, of which the West is so far incapable. It must acknowledge there are legitimate forces and cultures having a right to exist that must be accommodated.
The retreat into global-neoliberal-techno-feudalism, and the abominations of the World Economic Forum are morbid defeatism on a catastrophic scale.
Trump is only an interlocutor for change, that must include whole new mindsets and reconstituting the Republic. Harris is a desperate disciple whose faux presidency will only deepen the crisis.
For the decrepit West there are no quick fixes, no patching over. Out of chaos new harmonies and equilibriums must be born.
This paralysis has been evident long, long time before any presidential debates. The entire West seems to be under someone's thumb...but whose?
I'm just writing a post along similar lines, Robert. Thanks for posting.
