NATO's "Brain Dead" Betrayal -The First Anniversary
As the world has gone to war, NATO becomes traitor and theater of the absurd.
Trudeau and Macron, 2 of 29 NATO stooges who did nothing as Washington provoked war on Russia, destroyed Europe’s economy, and blew up the Nordstream pipelines.
In 2019 French President Emmanuel Macron did a very odd thing. It was one of those rare moments when a NATO member was openly critical of the boss state, at that time the boss was Donald Trump and he was running NATO with a heavy hand. He accused NATO members of not pulling their weight. They are supposed to contribute 2% of national GDP to sustain the so called defense alliance. Trump was insisting it be upped to 3% and even for 4% as swaggering empires have an insatiable thirst for war and hard cash. Trump chastised NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg for his part in allowing the Nordstream Pipelines to exist and bad boy Putin making all that cash. As we were to learn later all eyes in Washington were on those pipelines and they blew them up— famed journalist Seymour Hersh has just posted an article proving so.
Trudeau pledged perpetual allegiance to Washington when he fired friend and colleague Stephane Dion as his Foreign Affairs Minister. Dion wanted to establish detente with Russia so he was quickly replaced by none other than Chrystia Freeland. She is being mentioned as the next Sec. Gen. of NATO. As the world turns.
Canada has an ongoing love affair with NATO through thick and thin. It is an uncritical supporter. Even though his father had no use for NATO his dutiful neoliberal son is a NATO jumping jack. What used to be Canada’s “party of conscience”, the NDP used to oppose NATO membership as stated policy, now Trudeau has the party in his hip pocket, and the party’s present defense critic could just as easily be a US Republican.
It is truly amazing the number of Canadians who still believe NATO is a defense alliance. Anybody, not totally brain dead, knows that when the USSR collapsed in 1991 NATO was repurposed as Washington’s imperialist goon squad disposed to bombing the hell out of countries too small and weak to defend themselves, eg: Serbia, Libya and Iraq. NATO has never fought a real war but now finds itself in one.
It is now pouring tens of billions of dollars and armaments into Ukraine as it completely miscalculated Russia’s ability to resist the most devastating economic sanctions ever imposed on a a single country. It has survived these sanctions and its economy is intact and growing. War can also stimulate economies.
They also incorrectly calculated Russia’s ability to mount sustained warfare. With Russia on the verge of victory NATO scrambles to put together a counter offensive where arms and ammunition are in short supply— this may be because the US is concentrating it resources in the Pacific for opening another front against China.
As historian Chalmers Johnson pointed out long ago the empire is suffering overreach.
A realist once defined the purpose of NATO as "to keep Russia out, Germany down and the US in”. Recent events confirm just how willing colonized Europe is to destroy itself for the cause of Washington’s hegemonic ambitions.
The First Anniversary Approaches
We are just two weeks away from the first anniversary of the start of this war. A year ago at this time Washington had flatly rejected Russia’s petition for security guarantees pertaining to Ukraine and NATO’s growing presence there. It was becoming painfully obvious, open war was looming large.
NATO made its ludicrous claims that it was a defense alliance, it had the right to expand globally as it wished, it did not respect other countries “spheres of influence” and as US president Joe Biden pointedly stated the US does not respect any country’s red lines. Putin had made it clear years before NATO’s expansion into Ukraine was an existential issue for Russia. When the USSR collapsed in 1991 NATO promised not to expand eastwards, soon after broken.
Many things were very obvious at this time last year:
The US wanted war and it was using Ukraine as a stalking horse(staging area) for war against Russia.
Authors Note: For a very long time it has been been this writer’s opinion Washington’s overwhelming in interest in NATO is as a staging for war against Russia. Even as World War ll was concluding there were many officials and military generals who wanted to extend the war into China and Russia, especially so when there was a brief two year interval where the US was the only country with nuclear capability.
Dr. Paul H.Johnstone was one of many US analysts who spent the better part of his career analyzing and planning nuclear war against Russia. An overview of American history of the 1950’s and 1960’s reveals the US was laying the cornerstones of a warfare state. Events since then reveal the actualization, and negative effects on the USA and the world. The US triumphantly emerged from WW ll with an insatiable lust for war, not abated, but intensified.
A war would put Western Europe in the front lines and there would be grave economic consequences for EU/NATO countries, and much more depending on how far the war escalates.
Washington’s strategy leading to the war was to deliberately escalate tensions to where war was inevitable. It could not be seen to start the war, but had to push Russia to the point it had to act as a matter existential necessity.
From day one Russia has made it clear it wanted a negotiated settlement and negotiations were on going until they were sabotaged by NATO in April of last year
There exists an overwhelming body of historical evidence that Washington wanted war as its hegemonic ambitions are well known and underlined by such documents as the Wolfowitz and Bush ll Doctrines.
The Clincher
The unanswered question a year ago was whether NATO member states would approve of a war that had obvious consequences for them. There was a window of opportunity for NATO member states to veto the war, especially by Germany, France, Italy and Britain as prominent NATO members.
This intervention never occurred and NATO/Western Europe was goose stepped into a war clearly against their best interest by their callous imperial master. We see the consequences a year later where economic sanctions have backfired on Europe, there is an energy crisis, spiraling inflation, and its leadership completely discombobulated.
Empires only have one interest: self-interest. They will ruthlessly exploit friend and foe alike.
As events escalate and spiral out of control future historians will conclude this was one war too many for the teetering Collective West.
All is not quiet on the “Western Front”. History will also record how NATO leaders betrayed their populations for war, anarchy, and destitution, where peace, prosperity and security were abandoned.
