My Sneering Cynicism at the Gaza Cease Fire
We slide into disgrace one atrocity after another as the maw of empire destroys our humanity.
We know too well peace and cease fires are mere hiccups in the empire’s agenda of perpetual wars. Are we at the tipping point where wars and violence are so deeply embedded, so entangled in Western culture, it is nigh impossible to extricate ourselves?
Let me be clear I am as pleased as everyone else that the killing and barbarism has come to at least a temporary halt and hostages are being freed. It is though a tenuous peace fully loaded with grim foreboding where the mechanisms and sincere desire for lasting peace are shattered. We have witnessed too many war crimes beyond the pale.
I have just read an article by a prominent journalist, that summarized, is a patronizing pat on the head, once again justice and the good guys have prevailed. This is only true in a fairy tale world. The Gaza genocide is only one chapter in a web of international intrigue and treachery well beyond the competence of ham-fisted Western politicians to deal with. It is a cauldron of toxic complexities that can go from a slow simmer to a hard boil as the pundits are warning us more and greater wars are pending.
“History shows time and again wars don’t just happen; we talk ourselves into them. In WW l the feeble-minded British realized too late they were party to starting a major war which would see a million of their troops die. The Versailles Treaty of 1919 was so badly crafted and revanchist, POTUS Woodrow Wilson and many others went home knowing another war would be fought a generation later, just as WW lll has been an ongoing sequel to WW ll.”
Pundits speculate on just how tenuous is the cease fire? They remind us that this was a cease fire that should have happened months ago, and, the genocide would never have happened if a Zionist president had the presence of mind to veto the genocide as was his sworn duty as POTUS.
Then we were treated to the spectacle last summer of Netanyahoo addressing a joint session of Congress where he received 52 standing ovations ratifying the slaughter of the innocent, a timely reminder of who runs US foreign policy.
For the next four years the US and its adjunct NATO satellites will be run by a demagogic cabal. Where only the façade of democracy exists, governments are no longer representative, responsible, or accountable. Accountability is the keystone of democracy, for without it, the principles of representation and responsibility become meaningless."
Power gained through democratic process and benevolence is more enduring than power seized through despotic malevolence. Benevolent leadership fosters trust, loyalty, and cooperation, creating a stable foundation for lasting influence. Conversely, malevolent rule breeds fear and resentment, often leading to instability and eventual downfall."
Studying the history of the 20th century reveals a glaring disparity between our rapid technological advancements and our ability to govern ourselves effectively. Governance and leadership must be commensurate with the times, especially in an era where our societies are increasingly integrated and complex. Poor decisions and policies now have the potential to devastate the lives of millions, if not billions of people.
Can we afford to allow the robber barons of the 19th century free rein in the 21st? Can we persist in perpetual warfare when the specter of planetary extinction looms large?
Too many politicians see politics as a game played at others expense with no holds barred. It is a crude and juvenile approach at a time when competent governance, statecraft and adult behaviors are of paramount importance in both national and international politics and diplomacy.
In 1997 Zbygniew Brezezinski, security advisor to the late Jimmy Carter wrote his book The Grand Chessboard which called for the taking of the Asian Heartland, targeting Russia and China. Ukraine was the designated Trojan horse to draw Russia into war. The problem for the US is that since then there has been a huge power shift. It is no longer dominant with the rise of Eurasia and Global South and their 70% share of the global population.
For decades the US has dissipated its power fighting exhaustive wars while the East, led by China, has focused on economic prosperity and building better futures.
We are in a time when the rivalry of great powers is no longer conscionable. Brzezinski’s grand design is thirty years out of date. He advised taking over the Eurasian Heartland, would require competent strategies and diplomacy, never actualized or available.
When Putin proposed NATO membership for Russia in 2000, President Bill Clinton rejected the notion, as the empire would have no nemesis, no scapegoat to justify its forever wars. In 2001, Bush Jr. used 9/11 to declare his war on the world, activating the Wolfowitz Doctrine of preemptive war wherever and whenever Washington chose to do so.
Like all previous administrations this remains an imperialist government hellbent on global domination, a pipe dream no longer achievable. They have no concern for the wreck and ruin inflicted on the world or their own homeland. They are also contemptible of international law and binding treaties and agreements.
The West has come to dark times as we slide from one atrocity to another, singing our songs of unsuccess and precipitous decline. We are told Russia and China are the enemy when in fact our leaders stupefied intransigence renders us the victims of our societal self-inflicted destruction.

As I see it...what is being done to Palestinians has more to do with RACE than anything else. And the 'white' Western world is just as guilty remaining mostly silent and ineffective, to stop this Zionist massacre.
Just came from a coffee break talking about politics and world events. Two people were bantering about how they dismiss politics. I was asked about my thoughts:
"If any real politic cannot satisfy my values, morals or ethics, I do not engage, as the end result is the proverbial "holding one's nose at the ballot box". But I remain engaged in understanding the collateral damage of toxic real politic, further fortifying my values, morals and ethics."
(slightly rephrased)
I then went on to exp[lain how I now vote in any Canadian election, that of not selecting any candidate leaving the ballot unmarked.
"So what are you afraid of?"
And nothing further is discussed!
