How Neoliberalism collapsed the West
Ideologies make great wrecking balls especially when people don't even know they are there.
“As long as the West embraces the neoliberal ideology, its inherent fascism and its perpetual wars the decline and fall of the West accelerates out of control. When is the turning point and the return to sanity? “
Reading books is a very dangerous past time. Every so often you open one that changes your life and greatly expands your consciousness. Its like a grenade going off, a light bulb all of a sudden flashing red and a vast window opening on the world all in one. This happened to me several years ago when I opened Noam Chomsky’s book Profit over People . When he chose Robert W. McChesney to write the introduction it was a choice well made. In the introduction McChesney provides us with a very good definition of what is neoliberalism and then goes on to describe its effects on society. The book was published 24 years ago. Neoliberalism was well entrenched in our societies then, and even more so now.
The book outlines how neoliberalism is a social wrecking ball knocking down our societies for the past half century. The devastation done to Gaza is analogous to what neoliberalism has done to Western civilization. The ruins are every where and the casualties range from human to institutional to the collapse of democracy itself. Among so many other things, we are seeing the anarchy that ensues when democracy lies in ruins and fascism emerges from the wreckage.
Now at a time of revelation and culmination. The conflicts in the Ukraine and Gaza are revelation as they have revealed the ultimate treachery of Western elites. It is a culminating point for neoliberalism as we witness the ultimate damage it has done.
It is also a time of horrendous betrayal and abandonment as Western populations are seeing civilizational collapse as elites cannibalize our cultures to wage war on a world never theirs to have. They are so utterly delusional, and so craven as to sacrifice global peace and security to their megalomania.
As it stands now American is so corrupt, so steeped in anarchy and chaos it is in a sprint to the bottom. The road to redemption and saving the country, the “off ramp” is to repudiate war. This is the essential first step, otherwise the abyss, only becomes wider, deeper, and darker.
There has been much written about neoliberalism but most of it outside the public realm and with good reason. Elites don’t want us to be aware of the ideological wrecking ball they employ with reckless abandon. They have been aided and abetted by the traitorous mainstream corporate media diligently making sure neoliberalism never becomes part of our political dialogue.— I can remember those who voiced alarm when the MSM was being corporatized.
Political parties hide under various names. But all in the West they are all either neoliberal or complicity neoliberal . Canada’s ruling Liberal party is actually neoliberal as are all our other parties. This is in accordance with the edicts of the ideology as one of its stated goals is to denigrate the role of government and erase the identities of political parties. Under neoliberalism national governments are rendered redundant and their ability to act effectively as sovereign states atrophies. Canada’s last two governments have been openly neoliberal and neocolonialist, the two ideologies being very synonymous.
The seeds of collapse are planted long before the actual event. Margaret Thatcher and Ronald Reagan did the planting. They had many apprentices, ranging from Clinton, to Blair, to Mulroney, to Bush ll, to Obama, Genocide Joe Biden and Toddler Trudeau.
It is profoundly ironic Western elites stripped away the social welfare state in favor of the corporate welfare state— socialism for the very rich while raw capitalism is for the poor. While corporations plunder the wealth of Western countries the cost of decent social welfare is trifling in comparison. Where the social welfare state is seen as parasitic by neoliberals the parasitism of corporations knows no limits.
Neoliberalism is the total emancipation of unaccountable corporate power and as Benito Mussolini pointed out to us corporatism is fascism. Western corporations were instrumental in financing Hitler’s war machine just as they sustain America’s captivity to the MICC. Corporations are by definition sociopathic as their only values are money, power and dominance. The dominance of corporations is a tacit war on nation states and the ultimate class war. As we have seen so often nation states are leveled to clear the way for a globalist feudal world.
We are seeing now what happens when unaccountable corporate power reduces national governments to lackeys and cheerleaders, crushing democracies and its values in the process. Under neoliberalism capitalism is a predatory social wrecking ball stealing the wealth of nations and their sovereignty.
We are suffering too much wealth in too few hand— and the wrong hands. Neoliberalism sucks wealth up to the 1% such that whole governments can be bought and paid for. It is no coincidence most of the worlds wealth is controlled by 387 multi-billionaires/oligarchs/donors.
Wars now are corporate fought for resources. Not only does Washington not respect Russia’s and China’s right to self-determination they want their resources in pursuit of their global hegemony
Whole countries are stripped of their national assets with the use of debt traps. They are lent huge amounts of money they have no chance of repaying. The debt is foreclosed and national assets have to be sold off, social programs cut, and the standard of living diminished. Greece is one such example.
Unfortunately Thatcher and Reagan and too many other political dimwits failed to see neoliberalism as an ideology that would destroy and fragment Western societies. For them this was a naive mindless political expediency, for others-the neoliberal/neoconservative insurrectionists it was a Machiavellian master stroke for creating the corporatist fascist enclave in the West, that would go on to conquering the world through endless wars— which is just what we are seeing now.
In this time of revelation we are seeing the re-emergence of fascism in the West and how deeply those roots run; how Hitler was defeated but his ideology moved. Western.
Russia and China do no want war. They are determined to escape the West as they can see what neoliberalism has done to our societies. While the West has been pursuing endless wars steeped in corruption, the East has been building better societies for better futures.
As long as the West embraces the neoliberal ideology, its inherent fascism and its perpetual wars the decline and fall of the West accelerates out of control. When is the turning point where sanity returns?
The 22nd of November is the sixtieth anniversary of the Kennedy assassination. His message is even more pertinent and urgent now.
Change requires inspiration and his brilliance as a leader is still available to us:
“Every inhabitant of this planet must contemplate the day when this planet may no longer be habitable .. The weapons of war must be abolished before they abolish us.”
― John F. Kennedy
“Time and the world do not stand still. Change is the law of life.”
― John F. Kennedy
Let us stand together with renewed confidence in our cause -- united in our heritage of the past and our hopes for the future -- and determined that this land we love shall lead all mankind into new frontiers of peace and abundance.”
― John F. Kennedy
“We should not let our fears hold us back from pursuing our hopes.”
― John F. Kennedy
“The cost of freedom is always high.”
― JFK
Kennedy is still America’s true prophet who towers over those who so willingly sold out the American Dream.
