Hard Choices in Hard Times: Escaping the Destitution
Radhka Desai and Michael Hudson are prominent among a host of true prophets we should be listening to. It is their wisdom and knowledge that will save us.
We are certainly facing hard times and hard choices inflicted on us by our so called elites who have betrayed and abandoned us. They have created their ethereal vacuum where they can chase the bloodied dollar and endless wars to suit their fancy at our expense. They have lead us to the collapse of the civilization they were charged with fostering and protecting. It is the greatest insurrection the world has ever seen, and may ever see. It is a collapse of moral and rational values and the collapse of a whole humanist tradition including a liberalism raped and defiled by rapacious zombified neoliberal ideologues.
We in the West suffer the fallacy we are some how superior to all other cultures around the globe, when many of them are equal to and superior to ours. We prove our inferiority and baseness on a daily basis as the bloodied dollar becomes the currency of our existence and the calibration of human values. Anything that opposes the wanton accumulation of money and more power is cannon fodder for racist neoliberal zombies.
We suffer the malady of the “invincible present”. We think our existence is protected, fortified, by some divine right to plunder and pillage the world to suit our greed and pursuit of the bloodied dollar. All at the time we are receiving blow-back we had better change our ways, recognizing CHANGE is the ultimate arbiter of our existence and our survival depends on our willingness and ability to manage it intelligently, with a modicum of altruism—of which we are presently totally incapable. We are sequestered in hate, loathing and delusional fantasies of absolute power.
We elect prime ministers, presidents and chancellors as agents of change when they are no more than straw persons, redundant power groupies, in hot pursuit of perks, pensions, suffering acute political moral and intellectual penury. Bought and paid for, they prevailed over the collapse of Western democracy and now their redundancy is another burden we must bear.
It is just one more mistake to see these as “end times”. They are, only if we are so stupid as the make them so. In this the day of reckoning, hard choices have to be made, new initiatives taken.
The false prophets have clearly identified themselves ad nauseum. The true prophets, our brain trust, and indigenous “village elders” are there for us.
Radhka Desai and Michael Hudson are prominent among a host of true prophets we should be listening to. It is their wisdom and knowledge that will save us . War and nuclear bombs are our death wish. Our salvation is knowing who we really are and where we are going. The future is ours to define where there is the will to do so.
Concluding remarks by Michael Hudson from the video:
“So imperialism goes hand-in-hand with the class war and also with warfare financially by the United States and the core against the global majority. So what you’re having right now to put it all in the context of what we’ve been saying is that the whole Arab-Israel split is a catalyst. Somehow it’s shocked the whole world into forcing the global majority to Isolate itself from this NATO-US center or be sucked into it. And the only way it can isolate itself is to end not only end what has turned out to be a post-1945 financial colonialism. But you’ll have to reverse the effects of financial colonialism: the privatization of the government sector. You have to restore the government to the position that it was in throughout all of the rest of world history before privatization, this financial takeover in the name of national security.
And that’s going to involve debt cancellation. It’ll involve de-privatization It’ll involve all the things that we’ve been talking about for what will be a Eurasian alternative to the US Cold War economic order.”
