First things first: Carney must politely give Trump the cold shoulder
Trump is a very toxic president and Canada must be very wary and resolute in dealing with him.
The problem for Canada is that both the Conservatives and the Liberals have a long history of over compliance to American wishes. Especially Mulroney and Harper both of whom have distinguished records of betraying Canada’s best interests. Carney in his face off against Trump is doing damage control with the additional challenge of Canada putting down some new roots in a world that is going to be very messy for the foreseeable future.
Trump is a bully from start to finish. Many of us have seen bullies in the work place. I worked for a large firm where we had a bully manager. After many years he committed one too many atrocities and got himself fired. Trump is on the fast track to suffer a similar fate. His aspirations to serve a third term are becoming less likely with each passing day.
For Canada, Carney is the right leader at the right time as he is calm, confident, erudite and experienced on the international stage which is absolutely essential. He has the potential for bringing back Canada after a decade of mediocre leadership.
Trump is very much the bully, constantly sizing up his next victim, always looking to pick off the low hanging fruit, and famous for his compulsive lies and over elaborations . His diplomacy is bullshit and bluster. The only deals he makes are where he wins and everybody else loses.
Domestically Carney also faces many challenges. One of the biggest and most pressing is Western alienation. He can deal with that by bringing in proportionate representation where every vote counts. In too many ways the CPC is still the party of western protest, and tilts toward the reactionary US Republican party.
He must also look at cancelling the F-35JSF program as it is a blatant extravagance at a time when military spending has been a key factor in the downfall of the West. Militarism has bankrupted America; even so it presently plans more and greater wars.
There must also be an open dialogue on neoliberalism as it has gone beyond being a mere ideology and exists now as the ruinous frame work of Western societies. It precipitates endless wars, predatory capitalism, social and institutional collapse.
Trump’s rogue presidency is a wake up call for Canada (and a lot of other NATO countries) and we can turn it to our advantage or our detriment. Do we really want to align ourselves with a self-isolating fading empire or with the emerging multipolar world devoted to peace and prosperity?
“China’s Foreign Minister has repeatedly stated that “all unilateral tariffs must be removed” before China will even talk to Trump.”… Will Carney also do the same? The first rule in dealing with bullies is to challenge them right back. Quote from Mike Whitney on Unz Review
Trump must be convinced neither America or the world can afford the costs of endless wars. The best way for the world community to deal with him is to isolate him as the tardy school boy dictator he is. He is trying to save the Empire while sacrificing the American Republic.
Trump is a very toxic president and Canada must be very wary and resolute in dealing with him.

Thank God for Carney and the New Democrats he will have to work with. They are 100% behind Palestine and the Liberals better be too. There are 335,000 people who identify as Jewish in Canada and 1.2 million Muslims, so who are you going to side with. Zionists or truth talkers
Something that gives me hope is that the Liberals will be a minority government probably, and that the NDP is going to get a new leader. Carney has the experience and brains, but is firmly neoliberal, and the NDP could be a strong counter-balance, especially if they get a strong leader and if Carney decides to make an agreement with the NDP to have a majority government.
