Failed Presidents~Failed Prime Ministers
When the fog of war lifts there will have to be constitutional assemblies and reformations in many countries if democracy or some reasonable facsimile is to crawl out from the under wreckage.
It is no coincidence 75% of Canadians want Justin Trudeau to resign from office as do 86% of Americans want Genocide Joe out of office. Both are guilty of condoning genocide especially Biden who had the power to stop it in its tracks and failed to do so. For his part Trudeau hides in the shadow of the empire chastising Canadians for being antisemitic when Bibi the Butcher Boy has been a tireless promoter of antisemitism as his apron gets bloodier with each passing day.
We are seeing a barbarous failure of leadership the likes of which the world has never seen before and may never see again.
I have contended for a long time that if Canada and the USA were real democracies neither of these immoral swindlers would be in office. They are by products of badly corrupted political systems where merit is totally absent and cronyism prevails. The candidates are not the peoples choice but those judged acceptable to the status quo, bought and paid on arriving in office, only to serve the powerful vested interests that control them and their respective parties.
It is a subject for another time but this has all come about because too much money power and influence is the wrong hands, too few hands with no accountability. There has been an incremental failure of accountability since the death of JFK resulting in the anarchy and chaos we see now.
Long before Justin Trudeau was elected prime minister it was well known he was not qualified for high office. He had his father’s name, but not his talent or intelligence. His father advised him at a young age he was not suited to politics. His compulsive narcissistic personality drew him into the limelight of politics where he has wallowed in the perks, privilege, and celebrity. Cliches, platitudes, virtue signalling and gaslighting became his political forte.
Canadians were remiss in voting for a “name” but were also faced with getting rid of the Harper government which was systematically dismantling the country— one little devil replaced by another. The current Conservative leader is a fake populist claiming to be the savior when he is a Harper clone.
As for Biden he is another Hillary Clinton, an old war horse with a tarnished resume who never should have been allowed near the presidency. Clinton is bitter to this day that Trump defeated her, but her defeat was of her own making as she never should have run, too many mistakes, indiscretions and Libya is still the dead albatross hanging on her neck.
Biden once bragged he has been in politics for fifty years, which is fifty years too long. He originally ran on a Vietnam peace ticket as was the fashion of the time. Now he is not only actively supporting genocide he is betraying the best interests of his country. He has a blind obsession for supporting Israel at any cost. At the same time he is attempting to extend the Ukraine war until after the election, a war NATO has lost but unwilling to face the consequences.
Sagacity in leadership is totally absent in both countries and this extends to the legislatures, where senile Senators are walking dead men advocating endless war.
Recently, our Canadian Parliament decisively voted down Bill M-86 which called for the implementation of a citizen’s assembly. These are also called: “constituent assemblies”. They serve the purpose of building constitutions or revising existing constitutions.
Even though Canada is long over due for electoral and democratic reform the two major parties voted it down as the present archaic status quo caters to their Tweedledee/Tweedledum existences. At a time when leadership and legislatures are so thoroughly corrupted the need for assemblies is urgent. Canadians should be outraged this bill was voted down. The lack of outrage might lead to the conclusion we are not worthy or capable of sustaining true democracy.
Canada’s comatose Liberal party has been promising Proportionate Representation(PR) for a over a hundred years and never delivered. The reason being it is the corner stone of true democracy and representative government and they shun real democracy.
We also face the dilemma political parties put their self-interest ahead of the public interest, and ultimately become totalitarian as they are now.
If we wonder why our governments become authoritarian it is the only way under-qualified and compromised leaders can cling to power as Trudeau has done for the last nine years.
We are in an epic class war where the public interest and Western populations have been decimated. Politicians have totally abdicated their sovereign obligation to deliver peace, order and good government . They are now catering services to corporate wars, the ruinous neoliberal ideology, and feathering the nests of the one percent .
Hitting Bottom-The end of an historical cycle
Seventy-nine years after the end of WW ll we are seeing the end of a cycle. Where there was the promise of peace and prosperity there were also ominous powers emerging. The rising dominance of corporate power, the consolidation of the American empire and warfare state led to rapidly eroding democratic values. There was also the emergence of ruinous ideologies ranging from neocolonialism, militarism, and obsessive imperialism. The media was fully complicit by becoming an agency of propaganda.
As the cycle moved through time each successive government suffers the over sights and failings of the previous administration making it more and more difficult for governments to be progressive and initiate positive change. As options narrow and the power of vested interests take over governments and democracy are eviscerated.
Politicians are trapped in a matrix where they are in corporate capture, having abandoned their electorates. The develop a pack mentality caught between those they betrayed and the masters they now serve, where duplicity, hypocrisy and outright lying are the survival tools.
The test for any politician today is how effectively they can hide their lies and duplicity from the public.
As democracy declines so too does the quality of leadership. As talented men and women contemplate political careers, they shy away from the dog and pony show politics has become .
When the fog of war lifts there will have to be constitutional assemblies and reformations in many countries, if democracy or some reasonable facsimile is to crawl out from the under wreckage.
Yep. Also there is the ineffectual third party, the NDP, which passes itself off as progressive but can’t even make a statement calling the Israeli genocide in Gaza a genocide. However when I look at the political leadership in other so called ‘western countries’ the situation is not much better - a bunch of mediocrities supine to a crumbling empire.
What kind of choices are "take it or leave it" or "lesser of two evils"???
