Canada-The toothless mouse, tongue wagging for more war.
Refusing to accept the course of history, its immutable truths and cycles the delusional West is creating a very hard landing for itself in years to come. Where there is no contrition there is no....
It is a perilous existence for a mouse living next door to a roaring lion. To be a toothless mouse, especially in time of war, is a dead-ended existential issue. It is difficult to be master of one’s fate in such a threatening circumstance.
The world, believe it or not, is in its greatest crises ever, the consequences of which are going to be with us for decades to come. There are great power shifts taking place. The crisis is taking the measure of every nation great and small and history is in the witness box. There are going to be winners and losers.
Without a dint of exaggeration Humankind is at a crossroads of momentous opportunity; but also tragedy, where we might fail the ultimate test of the human spirit.
The best possible outcome is a multipolar world based on just and peaceful co-existence. We are so beleaguered and accepting of perpetual war and juvenile Western brinkmanship we have come to believe this is the permanent stasis when it is really a temporary tyranny that must end. The proponents of perpetual war want us to believe this is the end of history as this is the ending they want and have pursued for the last hundred years. They want global feudalism marching us back five hundred years in time.
The world is at a pivotal point where we have 8 billion people on an over crowded planet, economies are highly integrated, societies more complex than ever, and a slate of issues unaddressed beg for our attention. Meanwhile, trillions of dollars and endless resources are pissed away on militarism annually.
For any country to hold the world hostage to its imperial ambitions at this time in history is the purest of evils.
Every country requires the means to protect its interests; but for the last 75 years this has become militarism-which is the production and acquisition of weapons based on no actual need but driven by arms races and compulsive profiteering. It is no coincidence NATO accounts for over 50% of annual global military expenditures out stripping by far all other countries, including China and Russia.
The high cost of Empire: The hideous dual agenda
Western consciousness is not at the level where we realize there is a very high price that comes with empire. Empires by definition destroy societies crossing the Rubicon to become one. Empires impose imperialist agendas on societies that only can be pursued with endless lies and hypocrisies. It is the task of politicians to hide the dual agenda but in the age of information this becomes more difficult and debilitating.
American historian and political scientist Chalmers Johnson pointed out long ago “you can have empire, or democracy, but not both”. This not only applies to the seat of empires but to all its puppets and affiliations because imperialism is a direct attack on a country’s sovereignty whether it is military, economic, or extortion by intimidation.
The bizarre, and often referred to as “insane,” politics of the West are the end result of too many wars too often, too many lies and deception and the moral degradation that goes with them. It is the accounting comes after too many decades of free-wheeling and reckless impunity.
The rise of Eurasia has incurred an hysterical fear in the empire; so much so it is willing to hold the world hostage to greater wars when it should be focusing on bringing renewed peace and prosperity to its own country after 75 years of ruinous imperialist adventurism.
America is totally divorced from its own history. Chalmers Johnson is only one of many historians with stories told and too rarely heard. Another essential for empires is to slander history, replacing it with lies and propaganda shattering the cornerstones of it own existence.
The toothless mouse
Canada, like the US, emerged from WW II as a land of great promise. Given our modest means and population we made a considerable contribution to the war effort. Both countries had choices to make. The US in its over blown triumphalism went down the road to empire and the Cold War l was under way. Canada opted for colonialism riding the coattails of the empire. There was was no middle way for Canada’s political and economic elites. Today the colonization is replete, and Canada along with 28 other NATO puppet states are powder monkeys serving the empire’s imperialist wars.
Sharing the world’s longest undefended border Canadian governments have never made any attempt to pacify the empire’s appetites through diplomacy as a true friend would, instead we adopted pure vassalage to where the empire’s slightest wish is our command and with the loss of face and self-respect that comes with complete servitude.
Like other NATO member nations we are culpable for the Ukrainian war. As NATO leaders could have vetoed Washington’s war mongering, they went to war like sheep to the slaughter when it was so obvious to go to war against Russia was a suicidal death wish destroying their economies and standard of living. The war has taken full measure of how deeply Europe is colonized. The passive incompetent of its leadership leaves a long road back to economic and political solvency and sovereignty. Such is the high price of colonization!
Ottawa, Canada’s capital city is a hive of pomp, pretense and foppish leadership. There is a stolid indifference to the changes that are sweeping the world. The war does not exist except for cheap shots in the national media. There is yet to be a federal politician speak for peace and civility- the cat has their tongues nailed to the floor boards of the Commons.
When the tottering Tom comes to town they are cheer leading groupies, the toothless mice cheering for more war, more bloodshed. Pass the ammunition and damn the consequences.
The nation’s capital is a fetid mouse hole of Russiaphobia and Sinophobia where China is forever accused of interfering in Canadian affairs while we turn a blind eye to the fact we are no more than colony to our southern neighbor especially when it comes to war and global treachery.
Canada is in full abdication to the empire’s agenda as is Western Europe/NATO. As the tectonic plates of power are shifting globally like never before decolonized countries will be orphaned.
Like our neighbor to the south we have become a neoliberal enclave where politicians take their orders from the puppet masters who control them, political parties have been stripped of their identities, and party leaders are foppish empty suits singing for their supper, cheese, cheese and more cheese.
It is, all in all, very cheesy!
Provinces of the empire suffer a fate similar to the seat of empire and become echo chamber of its corrupted values and machinations.
Refusing to accept the course of history and its immutable truths and cycles the delusional West is creating a very hard landing for itself in years to come. Where there is no contrition there is no salvation.
history in the witness box
Well said. As a young man Canada was my dream land. Big, beautiful, and open to those wishing to escape being forced to kill for empire. It is heart breaking to see it now reduced to a toy poodle growling at the side of a pit bull.
