Bombing ourselves into oblivion

As it wages its criminal wars on the world, the stupefied West is demolishing its own homelands with social fragmentation bombs. War has never been so Pyrrhic.

We are seeing dehumanized thugs suffering their desperate and delusional demise at great expense to the world community. They refuse to accept the reality the empire has fallen and their obligations go beyond their national borders and beyond the tangle of the gold filigree infecting their souls.

It might be said man’s inhumanity to humanity is getting a little out of hand. This is of course nothing new. We have developed so many ways of blowing ourselves up. Being absurd and predatory is so much more fun than being responsible, accountable and rational. We make the same old mistake of allowing fools and buffoons to run our affairs and destroy whole civilizations in the process.

Humpty dumpty has had a great fall and lies shattered at the base of the wall. All the king’s horses and all the king’s men haven’t got an effing clue on how to put him back together again. Its going to take time to make sure we get the right people in the right place at the right time. We can no longer afford oligarchies, kakistocracies, gerontocracies and idiocracies. We have to make sure over ripe and under qualified troglodytes do not get into positions of high power.

In the mean time we have to quit bombing ourselves into oblivion. It is some what axiomatic that as we bomb foreign countries into piles of rubble we are bombing our own with social fragmentation bombs. We wonder why the collective West is going to hell in a hand cart. All we have to do is look in the mirror. The look we get back should be shame-faced. Nothing exceptional, nothing to do with Manifest Destiny, or being God’s chosen children, just pathetic old barbarism.

Politicians are more than willing to slander truth and history out of existence. The cities of North America have never been leveled by bombs as too many others around the world have been. Militarily and economically the US has been the most secure area in the world. Even so, its craven war mongers have used the homeland as a forward operating base for war on the world. These are the fool’s failing to realize you can never wage war without suffering the consequences of war, direct or indirect.

They have over too many decades been systematically negligent to the collateral damage done to the homeland they have ruthlessly exploited to serve the appetites of the empire.

In the following video Noam Chomsky outlines for us how the American homeland has been systematically “bombed” out of existence. The video marks the prodigious insight and understanding of Chomsky. It is also testimony to how prescient history is and how ignoring it precipitates collapse. America, over too many decades has marginalized its brain trust—the village elders— and allowed political ignoramuses and ruinous ideologies free rein to parasitically exploit the homelands.

The video makes the important point that Trump is not the problem but a symptom there of. Like predatory demagogues before him he was looking for a vulnerability to exploit. This was facilitated by the failure of the Democratic party to field credible candidates; plus the erosion of his own Republican party into a reactionary insurrectionist force looking for an opportunity to seize power. Trump’s age is taking its toll and as it does his disciples will take over which will foment another power crisis.

Trump’s disciples are desperadoes in their desperate hour. They are neoconservative war mongers who have been disenfranchised by the fall of the empire. They are determined to wage war on the world. They are inheritors of a morally and fiscally bankrupt empire, and a fragmented homeland that needs to be rebuilt and reconstituted. They refuse to see they are running thirty years late and a rapidly changing world has squelched their unipolar rogue empire. The malevolence lies with them, not the world community that is running in the other direction in hot pursuit of peace, prosperity, and a more just and lawful world.

For too long they have fomented endless wars through hate and race baiting, xenophobia, white supremacy, malicious imperialism and scapegoating— oblivious to the fact these values come to be internalized and definitive of their own societies.

They suffer a self-inflicted victim hood where they refuse to act rationally or responsibly betraying their oaths of office. They are no more than a catering service to vested interests and the dysfunctional ideologies they profess. In varying degrees, representative and responsible government no longer exist in many western countries. Too many are suffering the after effects of being colonized NATO vassal states.

Where the floodgates of reform fail to open, they must be pried open. Politicians who fail to stand with the people who elected them must be held to account.

Chomsky’s insights are a devastating indictment of the present status quo, but there is more. There were other voices warning a “higher immorality” was becoming rooted in America, that empires “first of all destroy the institutions of their homelands”. Empires destroy democracy, turning them into totalitarian states. For too many politicians “high truth is but the plaything of a feverish hour.”

It should be of concern Trump’s cabinet appointees are based on personal loyalty to him and not their competencies. Where applicable they were endorsed by the Senate in a system where cronyism prevails over professional values, competence and diplomatic skills.

In just over a hundred years, five empires have collapsed: Prussia, the Ottoman Empire, the Third Reich, the Japanese Empire, and the British Empire. The failed American empire is the most coercive and poses a grave threat to a highly complex and integrated global community.
