The Statue of Liberty is a global icon in New York harbor standing for liberty, freedom and promising futures. Now she stands betrayed and forlorn by the Republicans charged with defending her honor, tarnished with the blood and decay of the Empire.

We live in times where truth is blasphemy, rationalism treason, and deadened souls are bought for baubles and trinkets.

Our societies are chock full of amazing inconsistencies. Some are only of passing interest others are threatening and potentially fatal.

In reaction to the racist murder of George Floyd in 2020 a number statues of historic figures were toppled and beheaded. Canada’s first prime minister, John A. MacDonald was one of them for the racism he facilitated in the establishment of Canada’s indigenous residential schools, the last of which closed in 1996.
