A day of reckoning as the West hits bottom

When a fast fading president delivers a ghostly farewell and a war criminal infantilizes Congress with war drumming jingoism, July 24th, 2024 becomes an historic benchmark and a day of reckoning.

When, if ever, the delusional West ever returns to a state of equilibrium and common decency we might have a newly cherished regard for the value and meaning of democracy. Democracy is in full collapse and we are in a state of acute pathocracy and there is much more to come. There are no indications zombie politicians of the West are going to rouse themselves from their catatonic stupor. They are bought and paid for with blind allegiance to the corporatist neoconservative war mongers and suffer growing public anger and disgust that is not going away any time soon.

A much vaunted presidential election means nothing without the faint hope that a new administration recognizes how deep the crisis is and starts on the road back to sanity.

For the foreseeable future the agents of chaos and despotism preside over the wreckage of the West until such time as they are replaced. Where democratic systems collapse incrementally over decades there are no quick fixes. When politicians are enslaved to an empire’s wars they are political zombies bought and paid for delivering standing ovations to a demented war criminal.

July 24th, 2024 was the day a president delivered his farewell address after serving a term that should have been in full retirement. His legacy are the crises he has left behind. The disgrace lies with those having the constitutional obligation to facilitate his retirement much earlier. At a time when the office of president required a cogent and lucid incumbent it was left to a doddering geriatric.

July 24th, was also the day a war criminal had center stage in the US Congress. In his pre-speech acknowledgements it is significant he did not include the American peoples as part of his audience. His message was clearly aimed at the legislators, all bought and paid for by AIPAC. He was there to cash in on a return for his investment.

It takes a mountain of insolence for a war criminal to make such an impassioned speech playing the role of the victim when he is party to a crisis that has persisted for 70 years, his part in it is a matter of public record and that of the ruling of the ICJ (International Court of Justice). His arrest warrant for war crimes pending. At home he also has bribery and corruption charges outstanding.

His speech is best summarized as jingoistic war mongering where he over played his hand with massive doses of over wrought demagoguery. His resolute manner became parody with the smell of desperation.

He made the usual historical demagogic references to Churchill, Pearl Harbor, and the Holocaust, important in their time, but irrelevant to these. Invoking the past is a sly way of dodging the truths and realities of the present— an offense that should see a sophomoric speech writer fired and sentenced to a life time of writing obituaries.

With his vitriolic scorn he attacked the demonstrators outside the Capital building (pictured above) who speak the truth. Governments of the West are so desperate they are jailing protestors, firing university presidents, censoring world wide protests out of the news, making it illegal to show the Palestinian flag, while the prestitutes of the MSM whore themselves as propagandists for the defunct empire.

You would think the “wise” legislators of the Senate and Congress would carefully ponder the contents of his speech before passing judgement. Yet the clamorous applause was so persistent the war criminal interrupted his speech to tell them to listen and not applaud. The dignity of a so-called “state occasion” was reduced to a high school pep rally attended by country bumpkins. No doubt the check for more bombs and bullets will soon be in the mail.

From the podium Iran was the designated evil doer. Yet wiser heads tell us the last thing Iran wants is war. Nor does Washington, as if Israel goes to war against Iran American/NATO troops will be drawn further into it with a dangerous escalation for a wider regional war. Israel is by all reports punching a way above its weight class and dangerously isolating itself.

Some expert analyses are predicting the state of Israel may not survive, as with a similar state of affairs in Ukraine where the persistent and destructive chaos of war only makes a bad situation worse.

The Ukraine war could have been prevented in January of 2022 had Biden not arrogantly refused to settle Russia’s security concerns diplomatically. Similarly the Gaza genocide could have been prevented had Biden on his October 10th, 2023 visit to Tel Aviv instructed US aid would be cut off if the genocide went ahead. In both instances the president fomented war where peace should have been the first option.

Biden was not only a victim of rapidly advancing Parkinson’s disease, he was also compromised as a charter member of the “Super Class” where money and power isolate lost souls from the realities of the world and the consequences of their actions. Even as a US President his first loyalties were to the monied corporate Super Class and his being an “Irish American Zionist.” Both he and his Israeli counterpart suffer from the megalomania of unfettered wealth and power and the consequent demagoguery and barbarism.

The greatest threat to Western populations is not nuclear but the extreme alienation, the growing abyss, between the Super Class and the populations, the failure of abandoned democracy, where socialism only exists for the very rich and where neofeudalism is engulfing Western cultures.

Western elites have shown once and for all they are incapable of pursuing empire and keeping their countries upright at the same time. They are going to have to stay home, mind their own business and quit trying to conquer the world; in other words they are incapable of tying their shoes and chewing gum at the same time. The good news is that they will have to forgo WW lll, stay at home and sort out the fiscal and social damage they have done to their respective societies.

A new axiom comes into play: When chaos and corruption thrive at home foreign wars are surely lost and the social and fiscal wreckage only deepens.

NATO countries led by Washington have been fighting the empire’s wars— corporate wars for corporate profits— and now the day of reckoning is the here and now.

The daunting question now is will Western governments ever get back to being responsible and representative for the peoples they are mandated to serve?
